This website is born of the projects from 15 students studying with Dr. Gretchen Schafft for a class titled "Anthropology of Memory and Remembrance" at American University in Washington, D.C. This site is dedicated to problematicizing our nations monuments, opening up a space for questioning the official narrative, locating subnarratives, and telling the stories of those who are forgotten in official tellings of history.
